Donations have been really slow lately, and our 5R stagnation list has now grown to over 1500 appeals, with the longest-waiting families stuck for more than 7 weeks.
The problem is that even when these appeals finally receive a donation, it’s often just a few dollars - not nearly enough to make a real difference. They take weeks to gain visibility at the top, only to then quickly drop back down again.
To help fix this, we’ve implemented something new: an “Appeal Shield” for the most stagnant appeals at the top of the list.
These shielded appeals will now stay protected at the top until they reach a meaningful amount ($100) or have been there for a maximum of 5 days. This gives them a fairer chance to build momentum and actually get more support before disappearing again.
You’ll notice these appeals by the shield icon and a gold coloured donation link. There’s also a toggle in the bottom left corner of the screen if you prefer the old sorting.
We hope this change will help the longest-waiting families get some increased support before they disappear again for weeks on end.
